If you’re looking for a hotel near Kaohsiung Main Station, let me share our experience at Kindness Hotel. It wasn’t part of our original travel plan, but it turned out to be one of the best surprises of our Taiwan trip.
How We Ended Up Staying at Kindness Hotel
Originally, we booked Hub Hotel for our Kaohsiung stay (July 11–14) and FX Hotel for our Tainan trip (July 9–11). However, with Typhoon Bavi approaching Taiwan, we became hesitant about pushing through with our vacation.
We decided to cancel both hotel reservations while waiting for our airline to announce whether our flight would be canceled. We thought it would be more practical (and cheaper) to rebook if the airline officially canceled our flight.
By July 9, we still hadn’t received any updates, so my husband quickly booked Kindness Hotel, conveniently located just a short walk from Kaohsiung Main Station (Red Line MRT for just NTD 35 from the airport).
Our Room
We paid around ₱3,000 per night, including breakfast. The room was thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It featured a cozy bed with bedside tables on both sides, each conveniently fitted with power outlets for charging our devices. There was also a stool that came in handy when putting on our shoes, a large flat-screen TV for entertainment, and a single-door wardrobe with a full-length mirror.
For added convenience, the room included a mini fridge, a work desk with a chair, and a hot water kettle with complimentary coffee, tea, and bottled drinking water. While the room didn’t come with an in-room safety box, it wasn’t an issue for us, and we still felt comfortable throughout our stay.
Overall, the room offered practical amenities that made our stay at Kindness Hotel comfortable and hassle-free, making it a great choice for travelers looking for a clean, well-equipped, and value-for-money hotel in Kaohsiung.

One thoughtful feature we immediately appreciated was the complimentary umbrellas placed near the hotel entrance. Guests can simply borrow one without having to check it out at the front desk. Considering the rainy weather during our visit, this small convenience was definitely a plus.

They also offer a free 24/7 self-service laundry, which is a great convenience for guests staying a few days or longer. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to check or use it (yet).
Buffet Breakfast
Breakfast is served buffet-style every morning from 7am at the 2nd floor. While the selection wasn’t extensive during our stay, everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. I’d rather have a smaller selection of delicious dishes than a huge buffet with average food, so I left breakfast satisfied.

One thing we also noticed was that most of the guests during breakfast appeared to be locals rather than tourists. That’s just our personal observation, of course, but it made us think that Kindness Hotel may also be a preferred choice for local travelers or business guests. To me, that’s usually a good sign because it often reflects good value, quality service, and a comfortable stay.
Bathroom Amenities
Our bathroom featured a Panasonic smart toilet with a built-in bidet, which was modern and convenient to use.

The hotel also provided:
- Body wash
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Body lotion
- Handwash

One thing to note is that the hotel no longer provides disposable toothbrushes or toothpaste. This is becoming common in many hotels across Taiwan as part of efforts to reduce single-use plastic waste. Fortunately, we had already packed our own toothbrushes, toothpaste, conditioner, and facial wash after reading several Taiwan travel blogs and watching travel vlogs before our trip.
Drinking Water Refill Station
Another feature we loved was the drinking water refill station located just outside our room beside the elevator. Guests can refill their bottles anytime, so there’s no need to keep buying bottled water from convenience stores.

We actually bought bottled water on our first night before realizing the refill station was just outside our room. Lesson learned!
My Favorite Hotel Perk: Free Coffee, Tea, Snacks & Ice Cream
Without a doubt, my favorite hotel amenity was the 24-hour complimentary coffee and tea station located on the ground floor. Whether you need a morning coffee or a late-night cup of tea, it’s always available.
Even better, from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the hotel offers complimentary snacks, including:
- Around eight flavors of ice cream
- Chocolate flakes and corn toppings
- Bread
- Biscuits

Considering the room rate, I honestly think this is one of the best perks of staying at Kindness Hotel.
We checked in at around 7:00 PM and were already feeling hungry after our trip, so I immediately grabbed a cup of ice cream before heading out for dinner at Jilin Night Market. After enjoying all the delicious street food, I still found myself getting another cup of ice cream when we returned to the hotel. No regrets!
Location
One of the biggest reasons I’d recommend Kindness Hotel is its convenient location.
✔ Just a short walk from Kaohsiung Main Station
✔ Only one MRT stop to Formosa Boulevard Station
✔ Easy access to Kaohsiung’s popular attractions, shopping districts, and night markets
If you plan to explore Kaohsiung using public transportation, this hotel makes a great base.
Final Thoughts
Overall, we’re really happy that we ended up staying at Kindness Hotel. Although it wasn’t part of our original itinerary, it exceeded our expectations with its convenient location, comfortable room, thoughtful amenities, complimentary snacks, unlimited coffee and tea, and surprisingly good breakfast.
I’m not usually someone who reviews hotels because my blog focuses more on food than accommodations—we normally just need a comfortable place to sleep after a full day of exploring. However, some of my readers have asked me to start sharing the hotels we stay in whenever we travel outside the Philippines.
So, here’s my very first hotel review! I hope this helps if you’re looking for a hotel near Kaohsiung Main Station. If you’re after great value, easy MRT access, and generous complimentary amenities, Kindness Hotel is definitely worth considering.
